Latest Progress Report (View Past Reports)
7/4/2009 7:02 AM - Guy Maniscalco
Good morning,
Here it is Independence Day, 18 months since Nick's accident.  It is interesting to look back and see how God leads. We never would have dreamed how God can change lives with a single event. Or who He uses to change our lives.
Nick is still slowly progressing. Although we hoped that Nick would be walking by now (without a walker), crawling still seems to be a hurdle. One of Nick's therapists told us that Nick would greatly benefit by learning to crawl again. It has been very difficult for Nick to balance on all fours, but it is coming.  It is slow, but Nick is crawling from the living room back to his room. We thank God for therapists that understand what Nick needs next and how to do exercises for them. We were told that if Nick could crawl, it would make it easier for him to walk. He is also working on building muscle strength in is legs. We put up a chin-up bar in the doorway to Nick's room. He can now do six chin-ups at a time.
One of Nick's exercises is to stand at the sink and do dishes (not one of Nick's favorite things). We try to keep Nick as active as possible and doing "new" things to stretch him. He has a good attitude most of the time, but sometimes he feels we push him a too hard.
Next weekend we are going to a wedding in the Seattle area. This will be Nick's first "long" trip since his accident.
It is time to wake Nick to get ready for church. Please, pray for Nick and his continued healing. What a slow process is the healing, but God hears our prayers and is faithful. He has not let us down! We praise God for what He has done.
God bless you,   Guy and Debby

Dear Nick

We check almost weekly for your updates, and praise God daily for your continuing progress. We continue to hold you up before Him.  He is using you for His glory.  How exciting is that?

Your family is awesome for their faith, support and continuing example of leaning on Jesus in trials.  Thank you for encouraging us despite the difficulties you have all been through.  We pray God to continue to make you strong and you continue to improve.

Rod/Melissa and of course Laura Dick
