Merry Christmas to all,
It has been a while since the last update on Nick. Our apologies. We have been praying for other families in similar situations. It seems like we hear more and more of others that are in desperation of God's healing. Our family has been so blessed.
We look back almost two years ago when Nick had his car accident. Nick was so close to death for a long time. It is only by the grace of God that Nick pulled through and is still on the road to recovery. Nick is still using his walker and is able to move along a bit faster. Nick is doing very well on stairs, both up and down, but he needs a spotter all the time. He uses two hand rails if they are available. Both walking and on stairs Nick is still slower than the normal person, but still he is able to negotiate them with little help.
Nick made a goal to be sleeping in his own bed downstairs by Christmas time. Tonight marks the second night of sleeping in his own bed. Also, Nick has driven a car several times with great results (no accidents). Nick struggles to do the ordinary every day things that we all take for granted. It slows him down, but he still is trying to do as much on his own as he can. It is tough to watch Nick struggle and hold back on helping him until he asks for help. It's all part of the process though.
We don't know how far Nick will recover. We are just thankful that God has seen fit to spare him and heal him so far. It is exciting to see Nick's progress, even if it is slow and laborious. Again, God has been so good to us. We are still watching Him work. Praise God!!!
